As part of my master's programme at the University of Salford, under the information system and digital transformation module, I was required to write five blogs as my module assessment activity. Two blogs were to be written informally on any topic of my choice within the Information System sections, while the module leader provided a case study for the last three blogs. These blogs were to be six hundred words long each and contain graphics that would make them more appealing. In addition, I was required to publish a blog on an online blog site weekly.
At first, I felt this would be a daunting task that I would be highly uncomfortable doing, but this feeling was alleviated by the fact that I had already published a blog in a previous module. In addition, the module leader provided tips on how to write intriguing blogs. Furthermore, I went on to LinkedIn Learning app to learn how to write a compelling blog post.
So, I began the first module with a little bit of enthusiasm. However, as I progressed, I realized how interesting it was to type my feelings and thoughts. The first blog was to be written in a friendly manner which helped ease into the blogging activity. In no time, I completed the first blog, and my enthusiasm received a boost to move on to the next blog.
The second blog, being a critique of another article, required more attention, so I had to look up resources on how to critique an article because I wanted to do justice to this blog. I read the article, took notes, and wrote my critique with the tips found online.
The last three blog posts were centred on a case study provided by my module leaders. I was required to write about a Chinese restaurant that must be digitally transformed to meet customers' expectations and align with emerging digital trends.
For me to deliver on these blogs, I needed to research the relevant digital transformation topics, especially concerning the hospitality sector. In addition, because a blog post will be in the public eye, I needed to get the facts right.
The blogging exercise exposed me to information regarding digital transformation in the hospitality sector, which is a plus for me. I did not have any issues with the blogging process because of my previous exposure to the tools on a blog site during my last module. I could post timely and edit subsequently with updates to the post. I also found out that blogging is an enjoyable activity that enhances your writing, reading, and comprehension skills.
I appreciate the module leaders for allowing me to practicalize the processes and theories in this case study. Furthermore, with the knowledge the blogging exercises have provided, I am highly confident in my business analysis skills and ready to utilize them in real-life scenarios.
